Because I haven't stopped smiling for three days!
We had our second day of orientation today. It was much more relaxed, which was a treat for our jet-lagged/slightly to severely hungover selves. Iris, one of the nicest ladies ever, talked to us about general culture, how to stay healthy, tips, etc. I'm just going to say it now, deal with the classic studying abroad student daze, but why do we not live here!? Iris laughed at the idea of any violent crime, noting that only petty crimes, like some pick-pocketing, should be looked out for. No robbing, mugging, kidnapping, anything! That alone is about enough for me. She also talked about how Italians spend most of their free daytime just walking around "to see & be seen", arm-in-arm, smiling & enjoying life. This is definitely something I had noticed, & I love making a point to be those people, as well. It's hard even sitting inside our apartment right now doing this, while there is so much out there to see & appreciate! Plus, people watching for days... yes please.
If I could fly all my friends & family here right now, I think I'd throw my Visa out the window & live here forever. Right after I made that short movie a couple posts before this, we watched it.. & teared up! It's all right outside our door, & we already know how lucky we are, how amazing this place is, & (not even close to) how hard it will be to leave. Our home = Florence & we just cannot believe it!
We can't say it enough:: THANK YOU MOM & DAD!
