On Friday, we had everyone over at our apartment for wine & catching up. At one point, a few deltas were of course isolated, talking about anything & everything - something I greatly miss! (Caroline ruins everything.) This could've gone on for hours, but everyone was eager to go out (& Troll to eat spoonfuls of Nutella). First we went to Astor, then the Veronians wanted to go to Space. Us Florentines hadn't been there yet, but had only heard crazy things. With multiple floors, balconies overlooking a crazy dance floor, & bars on tops of aquariums, expectations were met. Scott Disick even provided us with more VIP service!
some of my favorite people all in Firenze!
On Saturday, I got up early & showed everyone around Florence! The highlight was definitely going to being at the top of the Duomo. The stairs up were not so fun, but absolutely worth the views. It was a beautiful day, with even more beautiful sights! I cannot wait until the next opportunity to play tour guide & do this, especially because it will probably be with my parents & David!
Veronians loved Gustapanino too
& the Ponte Vecchio
but this was the best
pictures can't even do it justice
missed these girls!
missing my room 27 friend

That night, our huge group of Florentines + Veronians + even some Romans went to dinner at Il Gatto e Il Volpe. Round 2 was just as delicious, & even better with the addition of more friends. It will probably come as a huge surprise to hear that Maisie, Mullen, Alyssa, Sloan, & I ended up in the bathroom all sharing Sloan's red lipstick... Seriously though.
colored lips & bathroom self-shots; don't hate it!
After another stop at the Ponte Vecchio, we went to hang out in the hostel before another night at Space. This round 2 was also more fun, but I think I've had my fill of that place for a while.
loved having visitors!
BUT not my fill of seeing more people we know. This weeks means the arrival of all other friends studying abroad in Florence this semester! Although we are practically natives now, we've agreed to show them around. But only at obscure times, due to fear of being laughed at by groups of Italians. This actually happened today, has happened a few times before, & is starting to really frustrate us. I wish I was serious about being practically natives, because always managing to stand out is getting a little old. I guess we are finally experiencing culture shock. With more time & traveling under our belts, it will fade; but sooner rather than later would be nice! & meanwhile, it won't be stopping us from walking in large groups, taking pictures of about everything, & entertaining ourselves along the way. Mi dispiace, Italia!
Continental Congress update: Sunday night we went grocery shopping (continues to be a learning experience) & decided that we wanted to make tacos. This clearly counteracts our wishes of not wanting to stand out, especially when we held up two kinds of ground meats & our taco mix & gestured to the butcher asking what kind we needed. But we did make tacos, chips & guac, & played La Bamba in our apartment. & it was great.
